On behalf of the Royal Thai Government, I would like to take this opportunity, at the World Humanitarian Summit Global Consultation, to emphasize Thailand’s support on the following issues:
1. Partnership: when it comes to the natural disasters, we have learned that no country, no matter what level of development, can tackle these problems alone. By working together, we can effectively mitigate the effects of conflict and disasters. We strongly support the building of partnership in preparing for disaster response both at international level and national
level. The strong partnership at every levels, especially between civilian and military as well as private sector, will lead to a more cohesive response capacity and disaster risk management.
2. The second is building resilience, as we face the increasing new threats such as natural disaster and climate change, we should prepare ourselves by investing in preparedness, managing and mitigating risks, reducing vulnerability, and engaging communities. Investment in disaster risk reduction and empowering as well as engaging communities are the keys. Thailand is committed to implement Sendai Framework on Disaster Risk Reduction.
To this end we all are having the same goal of protecting the lives, livelihood, and hard-won development gains of our people from the effects of natural disasters. We are neighbors helping neighbors; friends helping friends. We are stronger together and Thailand is confirming her commitment in making humanitarian assistance better.
