Visa application by post

 

**Important notice**

Please note the validity of visa and permitted length of stay below. 

If you apply for single-entry tourist visa, you can stay in Thailand up to 60 days only. The 30-day visa exemption scheme is not included in the tourist visa, and the permitted length of stay remains up to 60 days.

 

The Royal Thai Embassy in London commenced its visa application by post service on the 2 January 2014. Termination of visa services by post at the Royal Thai Consulates in the United Kingdom and Ireland (namely, the Royal Thai Consulates in Cardiff, Hull, Liverpool, Glasgow, Gibraltar and Dublin) will be effective from 15 January 2014. 

 

All types of visas are issued according to your purpose of visit which must be stated clearly by the applicant. Failure to do so shall inevitably incur delays.


Visas issued must be used within 3 months from the date of application. Upon arrival in Thailand, the actual length of your stay (starting from the date of entry), shall be determined and granted at the discretion of Immigration Officers.

 

Who Can Apply for the Visa by Post

Anyone who resides in the UK and Ireland.

  • Exception : Holders of passports / UK Travel Documents who are nationals of these following countries have to apply in person only -- Afghanistan, Algerian, Bangladesh, Cameroon, Central African Republic, China, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Republic of the Congo, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Ghana, Guinea, India, Iraq, Iran, North Korea, Lebanon, Liberia, Libya, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, Palestine, Sao Tome and Principe, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Syria, and Yemen

     

Consular officers reserve the rights to request additional documents as deemed necessary.

 

When Submitting your Application by Post

Required Documents:

  • visa application form must be completed and signed. Only the visa application forms issued by the Royal Thai Embassy in London will be accepted. A separate form is required for each traveller regardless of age.
  • Your Passport/Travel Document which must be valid for at least 6 Months from the date of  application and has at least 2 blank pages. The actual passport must be submitted with visa application form.
  • Two (2) recent photos.
  • Supporting documents as required for each type of visa
  • Visa fee : Tourist Visa Single Entry (£25), Tourist Visa Multiple Entries (£125), Non Immigrant Visa Single Entry (£50) and Non-Immigrant Visa Multiple Entries (£125).
  • Fee for return post of £10 : Each applicant must enclose return address and pay an extra £10 on top of the visa fee to cover the return of passport.

    Visa and postage fee must be paid by Cash or Postal Order made payable to: The Royal Thai Embassy. Please write down the applicant's name and passport number at the back of the postal order.

    ***CHEQUES ARE NOT ACCEPTED. NO REFUNDS IN ANY CIRCUMSTANCES***

Visa application by post will normally be processed within 5 working days

 

  • Documents in foreign languages must be translated into English and the translation must be certified  by the relevant embassy in London.

Please note: We will keep all supporting documents. If you wish to have your documents back, please do photocopy before submitting.

Please send the documents by Royal Mail Special Delivery (You can track the delivery status via Royal Mail: https://www.royalmail.com/track-your-item). The embassy will not be held responsible for lost / stolen / damaged document. It is recommended to use the stamps to send and return rather than a franking stamp from the post office as franking stamps will limit the date of posting. 

 


Please note:

  • Consular Officers reserve the right to request for additional documents as deemed necessary.
  • Please do not apply for a visa more than 3 months before your date of travel.
  • You are advised not to contact us before 5 working days after our receiving of your application (you can track the delivery status via Royal Mail website). We will not track the application for you by phone. If you do not receive the passport back within 5 working days, please contact us with the proof of posting of your application.
