On Thursday 16 May 2019, Mr. Apirat Sugondhabhirom, Consul-General of Thailand to Ho Chi Minh City and spouse, together with Mr. Natthapol Na Songkhla, Deputy Consul-General and Mr. Sangrawin Ratchasarn, Consul, signed a congratulatory book on the auspicious occasion of the accession the the Imperial Throne of His Majesty Emperor Naruhito of Japan, at the official residence of the Consul-General of Japan to Ho Chi Minh City. On this occasion, the Consul-General of the Republic of Singapore as Dean of the Consular Corps and other Consuls-General of foreign countries in Ho Chi Minh City also attended.

His Majesty the Emperor Naruhiro has formally ascended to the Imperial throne on 1 May 2019 becoming the 126th Emperor of Japan, marking the beginning of "Reiwa Era" after the abdication of his father, H.M. Emperor Akihito which marks the end of “Heisei” era.

In this regards, Mr. Jun-ichi Kawaue, Consul-General of Japan to Ho Chi Minh City, expressed his thanks to the Royal Thai Consulate-General for the congratulation message and also offered his congratulations to His Majesty the King of Thailand on the recent auspicious occasion of the Coronation of His Majesty the King.
