Embassy’s Activities : The Royal Thai Embassy, Copenhagen organized a cooking class under the title “Wisdom of Thai Cuisine by Michelin Star awarded Chef Chumpol Jangprai, Thailand’s Iron Chef” at Gastro Studio, Vilnius, Lithuania

On 8 September 2019, the Royal Thai Embassy, Copenhagen organized a cooking class under the title “Wisdom of Thai Cuisine by Michelin Star awarded Chef Chumpol Jangprai, Thailand’s Iron Chef” at Gastro Studio, Vilnius, Lithuania. Chef Chumpol Jangprai, who was crowned Thailand’s Iron Chef during 2012-2018 and is the managing director of the Michelin Star awarded RHAAN Wisdom of Thai Cuisine Restaurant as well as the founder of MSC Culinary School in Bangkok, was invited by the Royal Thai Embassy to participate in this project.  

In this occasion, Ms. Pratana Disyatat, Minister Counsellor as representative of His Excellency Mr. Vichit Chitvimarn, Ambassador of Thailand to Lithuania with residence in Copenhagen, welcomed the participants of the cooking class and opened the event. The project was initiated by the Royal Thai Embassy in Copenhagen, in collaboration with Thai Airways International, as part of the Thai Government’s policy to promote Thailand as the “Kitchen of the World”. The objective of the project is to further the knowledge of Thai food in Lithuania where Thai food has becoming increasingly popular as the number of Lithuanian tourists to Thailand has continually risen in the past several years. It is hoped that this project will stimulate more interests in Thai food and lead to the opening of more authentic Thai restaurants in Lithuania.

The cooking class was attended by more than 70 participants, at the full capacity of the studio. Among the participants were professional restaurant chefs, those who work in the hotel and restaurants industry as well as the gastronomic media. Chef Chumpol Jangprai demonstrated how to cook 4 signature Thai dishes including Thai Chicken in Coconut Soup, Spicy Prawn Salad, Royal Crispy Noodles and Massaman Beef Curry. The participants had the opportunity to taste the 4 dishes and received certificates from the Chef.
