News & Activities : The Royal Thai Embassy in Colombo organized a merit making ceremony on the occasion of the Birthday Anniversary of His Majesty the King

On 28 July 2019, the Royal Thai Embassy in Colombo organized a merit making ceremony on the occasion of the Birthday Anniversary of His Majesty the King at Gangaramaya Temple, Colombo. H.E. Chulamanee Chartsuwan, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to Sri Lanka, and Mr. Vichai Chartsuwan, Ambassador’s spouse, presided over the ceremony. The event was attended by about 35 participants, including officials from the Royal Thai Embassy, officials of the Thai Airways International, board members of the Sri Lanka – Thailand Society, and board members of the Sri Lanka - Thailand Business Council. During the ceremony, 10 monks from Gangaramaya Temple and Jayasekararamaya Temple offered blessing to His Majesty the King. Afterwards, participants offered dhana and alms to the 10 monks. In addition to this religious ceremony, the Embassy also opened a book for participants to write congratulatory messages. The book will remain opened at the chancery of the Embassy until 4 August 2019 (except on Embassy’s holiday).

On this auspicious occasion, the Embassy also organized oath taking ceremony for officials of the Embassy on 26 July 2019. The Embassy also organized lunch and made donations to the St. Mary’s Home for the Elderly, Colombo, on 23 July 2019
