  • President of Sri Lanka and Prime Minister of Sri Lanka signed the Book of Condolences for His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej
    On 15 October 2016, H.E. Maithripala Sirisena, President of Sri Lanka, and Honourable Ranil Wickremesinghe, Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, visited the residence of Thai Ambassador to Sri Lanka to sign the book of condolences for His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej who passed away on 13 October 2016. H.E President Sirisena wrote on behalf of the government and people of Sri Lanka to convey his deep sympathy to the Royal family, the Government and the people of the Kingdom of Thailand. The Sri Lankan people mourn together with the Thai people on the loss of their beloved King. H.E. President Sirisena recalled with deep appreciation the invaluable contribution that His Majesty King Bhumibol made to strengthen the relations between Sri Lanka and Thailand. H.E. President Sirisena also observed a minute of silence in memory of His Majesty the King.

    The Royal Thai Embassy presents its compliments to all Diplomatic Missions, Consular Representatives and International Organizations in Sri Lanka and has the honour to inform with deepest regret that His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand passed away peacefully on 13th October B.E. 2559 (2016) at 1552 hours at the age of 89 in the 70th Year of His Majesty’s Reign.

    On 21 September 2016 at 18.30 – 22.00 hours, the Royal Thai Embassy in Colombo organised “Thai Festival 2016” at Kingsbury Hotel and invited Sri Lankan high – ranking officials, businessmen, travel agents, and media as well as diplomatic corps to join the Festival.
  • The Royal Thai Embassy in Colombo organised Thai Cooking and Thai Boxing (Muay Thai) Workshop in Sri Lanka
    On 20 September 2016 at 10.30 – 12.00 hours, the Royal Thai Embassy, Colombo organised Thai cooking demonstration for 40 spouses of the heads of diplomatic corps in Sri Lanka, spouses of Sri Lankan high-ranking officials, spouses of the renowned businessmen in Sri Lanka and Sri Lankan media
  • Ambassador of Thailand to Sri Lanka attends the Sri Lanka-Greater Mekong Sub-region Business Council
    On 7 September 2016, H.E. Mr. Nopporn Adchariyavanich, Ambassador of Thailand to Sri Lanka, attended the annual general meeting of the Sri Lanka-Greater Mekong Sub-region Business Council (SL-GMS BC) at Ballroom, Hilton Colombo Residences. The meeting was attended by around 60 Sri Lankan businessmen who are the members of the SL-GMS BC and have been doing business with the private sector from the countries in the Mekong sub-region.
