Important Information on the visa Application

******ALERT - UPDATE AS OF 20 MARCH 2020*****

According to the Notification of the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand dated 19 March 2020, every foreign passenger, who wishes to travel into the Kingdom of Thailand by air transportation, must present the following documents at the airlines check-in counter in order to obtain a boarding pass:

1. Health Certificate certifying that the passenger/s “pose no risk of being infected by the Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19)”. The said health certificate must be issued no more than 72 hours prior to the date of travel

2. Health Insurance/Health Insurance Policy showing minimum medical coverage of USD 100,000 in Thailand and covers for Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19).

3. For any passenger who is unable to present these required documents, the airlines shall not issue a boarding pass and boarding shall be denied

Please note that the above-mentioned measures shall be effective from 21 March 2020 at 21.00 hrs. UAE time

Please note that, in accordance with the current policy of the Royal Thai Government, the Royal Thai Embassy in Abu Dhabi is applying extra conditions for visa application of passport holders of following countries:

AFGHANISTAN and IRAQ : Approval of visa application for Iraqi and Afghan nationals can take up to 45 days after submission of documents at the Embassy.

Kindly note that a nationality from the list below must submit the visa at the Embassy by themselves at the Royal Thai Embassy.

1. Nigeria (A Nigerian passport holder must submit the NDLEA form with the stamp from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nigeria and attested by the Royal Thai Embassy in Abuja)
2. Cameroon
3. Republic of the Congo
4. Democratic Republic of the Congo
5. Equatorial Guinea
6. Guinea
7. Ghana
8. Liberia
9. Sao Tome and Principe
10. Sierra Leone
11. Somalia
12. The Republic of Sudan

Visa Procedures

1.       The applicant must hold a full passport which must be submitted when applying for a visa. 

2.       A passport must be valid for at least 6 (six) months from date of entry into Thailand. If the passport is less than 6 months, the Embassy will not be able to receive the application.

3.       Non-passport documents (such as Certificate of Identity, Certificate of Registration etc.) will not be accepted.

4.       Application form must be typed only. A handwritten application form is not accepted.

5.       Application form must be completed fully and accurately, and all supporting documents must be submitted together with the application form. Failure to do so may result in delay or rejection from the Consular Section of the Royal Thai Embassy.

6.       All supporting documents must be in English.

7.       Two Application forms must be original and personally signed by the applicant.

8.       Two recent (not more than 6 months) passport-sized color photograph with white background of the applicant must be submitted with the application. 

9.       All applications are subjected to approval. Submission of a visa application does not necessarily mean that a visa will be granted. Visa fee cannot be refunded in any circumstance.

10.    You can apply for a visa up to 3 months before your date of travel to Thailand. We expect you to plan your travel and visa application as far in advance as possible.

11.    Applicants of Iraqi and Afghani nationals whose applications need referral to the Home Security Authorities in Thailand must submit a booking of travel tickets (plane, boat or otherwise). 

12.    All visa applications must be submitted between 09.30 am and 12.30 pm, Sunday to Thursday ONLY.

13.    If granted, visa can be collected within 1-2 working days, from 09.30am - 12.30pm and 14.30pm - 16.30pm, Sunday to Thursday ONLY.

14.    The granting of a visa is, in effect, only a form of pre-entry clearance. It does not grant permission to enter Thailand. Thailand Immigration authorities at the port of entry reserve the right to refuse entry into Thailand.

15.    All applicants must reside in United Arab Emirates

16.    All visa regulations are strictly adhered to for the good of each and every individual who wishes to visit Thailand, in order to prevent any problems and complications with regard to their entry into Thailand.

17.    The Royal Thai Embassy reserves the rights to have a personal interview with any applicant.
